About me

Hi, I’m Kiersten ā€œRuthyā€ Haugerud, MS, RDN, LD, CD—a Registered Dietitian, fitness enthusiast, artist, and advocate for Creative Wellness: the intersection of science-based nutrition, movement, and expressive art.

I believe real health doesn’t start with a prescription pad or an injection—it starts with you. Your daily choices hold the power to heal. My role is to give you clear, practical tools so you can feel strong, energized, and grounded.

My Journey

I found nutrition the honest way—by struggling. In high school I chased quick fixes; in 2014 I picked up a barbell and everything shifted. In college I transferred into UW-Stout’s Dietetics program and also earned a minor in Studio Art because making art has always been part of how I process and heal. I’m now completing my certification as an Art Therapy Practitioner so I can integrate creative practices more intentionally into care.

I’m multi-passionate—dietitian, artist, small-batch miller, and love challenging my body through movement. I also live with adult diagnosed ADHD and have learned to navigate it naturally without medication, using structure, movement, protein-forward meals, circadian rhythm supports, and creative flow to keep me focused and well. I respect that every brain is different; I help clients find what works for them and collaborate with medical care when medication is part of their plan.

Over eight years in practice, I’ve become especially passionate about metabolic health and sports nutrition—fueling cyclists, runners, lifters, and active people to perform better without burning out their hormones or their joy.

Why ā€œCreative Wellnessā€

Most people don’t need another diet; they need a whole-person approach:

  • Nutrition & Metabolism – clear, sustainable strategies for energy, hormones, and long-term health

  • Sports Nutrition & Fitness – performance fueling and strength support for active lifestyles

  • Expressive Art Practices – simple tools to lower stress, build resilience, and reconnect with purpose

This is where my science background, Studio Art training, and Art Therapy work come together.

Whole-Grain Roots: Impact Market & Mill

Three years ago I started milling my own flour. The difference was immediate—my digestion, skin, and joints felt noticeably better. I opened our local mill so organic, true whole grains are accessible in our rural community. Today, I offer fresh-milled flour and grains to help families cook and bake with nutrient-dense staples that support real wellness.

The IMPACT Framework

I built IMPACT to help you create change that lasts:

  • I – Identity: Believe in the healthiest version of you.

  • M – Micro/Macronutrients: Balance vitamins, minerals, protein, carbs, and fats.

  • P – Physical Activity: Movement is medicine—lifting, biking, running, walking, play.

  • A – Action: Simple plans that turn goals into habits.

  • C – Circadian Rhythm: Sleep and light rhythms for metabolic and mental health.

  • T – Thinking Healthy Thoughts: Mindset and community for consistency.

If you’re ready to make wellness your new normal, I’d love to help—through nutrition therapy, performance fueling, creative wellness classes, and fresh-milled foods.

Hobbies/Interests

I love any activity that gets me outside with my family and my dogs! My favorite activities include mountain/gravel biking, hiking, snowshoeing, golfing, and being out on the lake fishing or swimming. Nature is therapy. When I’m not outside, you can find me deep in a watercolor painting listening to music.
